Motion Gripper
Redesign: Motion Gripper for the PRECEYES Surgical System.
Ergonomic input device for robot-assisted eye surgery.
Vision is one of the five elemental senses of human and of great importance to us. A visual impairment can drastically affect our lives, which is why it is enormously important to provide adequate treatment for their causes. Particularly in the case of invasive eye surgery, the surgeon demands a high level of competence and mental focus. With the help of robotics, a high degree of precision and a lower risk of eye damage can be achieved during the operation. However, this only applies if the surgeon can operate the robot safely - for the patient and himself.
In my Final Master Project, I revised the current Motion Gripper, the motion input device of the PRECEYES Surgical System, with a focus on ergonomics.
User tests in the areas of Functional Efficiency (Precision), Physical Comfort, Usability and Health & Safety have been designed and / or performed and analyzed. The result showed that the revised Motion Gripper was successful.
Particularly in the areas of Physical Comfort and Usability, a strong increase was recorded.
